Seven hundred elite Sea Tigers presumed killed in
Tsunami?
Tamils leaving for Government held areas have told the
Security Forces that the LTTE has launched an under-sea
operation to retrieve their powerful military hardware
washed away to the sea during the recent Tsunami, it is
reported.
Seven hundred armed elite Sea Tigers were presumed to be
killed. The hardest-hit Verugal Camp alone has lost about
200 Tiger cadres. Another LTTE stronghold known as Paul
Point is reported to be completely destroyed with 150 cadres
who manned it.
Three LTTE sea craft have been retrieved. One hundred and
fifty cadres with a large consignment of explosives were at
the Aditya base which went under water.
The number of lives lost at Mundel Camp is estimated to be
around 50. It has now been revealed that all Sea Tiger camps
along the coastal belt from Sampur to Berugal were destroyed
by the tsunami.
All the Tiger cadres who lost their lives were buried at the
Sampur Public Cemetery, sources reported.
