Ramsay Medicare for tsunami relief

 
Australia's largest owner and operator of private hospitals, Ramsay Health Care has contributed to the tsunami relief effort by coordinating the donation of over A $ 100,000 in cash and medical supplies to Sri Lanka.

The donation package which the actual value amounts to over $ 250,000 due to the contributions of goods in kind and at reduced prices by many of the company's major suppliers will be airlifted to Sri Lanka during the week.

The aid consignment, accompanied by a Ramsay Health Care Representative, would be supplied to the Sri Lanka Navy's Medical Unit for distribution. In a press release Tuesday, Ramsay Health Care stated the supplies, including syringes, bandages, plaster, scalpels, IV cannulas, saline and fluids will be air freighted to Sri Lanka soon. A number of medical and nursing staff from Ramsay hospitals have volunteered to assist in the disaster relief effort and Ramsay Health Care will support their efforts by providing leave and free travel insurance.
