WVSL
implements Rs. 80 m relief program |

The
World Vision Sri Lanka (WVSL), a Non Governmental
Organization engaged in social welfare and development
activities in Sri Lanka has implemented a massive relief
program at a cost of Rs. 80 million for the benefit of
tsunami victims, Media Coordinator, WVSL, Jayaweera
Kohombange said.
Kohombange said the relief program covers Colombo, Gampaha,
Kalutara, Galle, Matara, Hambantota, Ampara, Batticaloa,
Trincomalee, Jaffna, Mullativu, Kilinochchi, Mannar and the
Puttalam districts. WVSL provides relief items and medical
services to the victims of those districts. The relief items
include bed sheets, large towels, clothes, dry rations such
as rice, dhall, sugar, dried fish and salmon, tea leaves,
soap, plastic plates, cups, spoons, buckets, Aluminium pots,
candles, mats and medicines such as pain killers, bandages
etc. Medical camps will be held in Galle, Puttalam and
Batticaloa.
Temporary
houses had been provided for nearly 250 families in
Hambantota and Tissamaharama.The first phase of the WVSL
program was completed by the end of last year.The second
phase of the relief program commenced recently.
