EB Creasy Group awarded 160 scholarships to tsunami victim
students and those who have passed the 2005 Grade 5
Scholarship Exams.
These students will receive Rs. 1,000 per month from Grade 6
up to their Advanced Level (A/L).
The project was funded by EB Creasy Group staff and their
principals Society Bic (France), Lesaffre (France), CLEScell
International Battery Co. Ltd (China) and ARGO Management
Consultancy Ltd (Hong Kong).
UAE to
assist 400 tsunami hit families
THE United Arab Emirates will sign an agreement with
UN-Habitat on Monday to provide Rs. 120 million to construct
houses for tsunami victims in Galle and Kattankudy.
Under this agreement, UN-Habitat will construct 100 new
houses in Kattankudy and 80 new houses in Galle while 220
houses in Galle damaged by the tsunami will be
rehabilitated. Community infrastructure facilities will also
be provided to these settlements.
The agreement will be signed by Abdullah Al-Mahamood,
Representative of the Red Crescent Society, UAE with
UN-Habitat in the presence of Mahamood Mohammed Al-Mahamood,
Ambassador of United Arab Emirates.
Scholarship funds for tsunami children
THE Tree Foundation, a charity organisation in England
recently launched its awarding of scholarship funds to 100
students affected by the tsunami.
The ceremony was held at the BMICH with the participation of
its co-founder and trustee, Sacha Zackariya.
