Media Minister inaugurates first day programme

COLOMBO: Dhamma sermons, lantern competitions, blood donation
campaigns and Bakthi Gee programs will be the main features at the
forthcoming Amadahara Vesak Zone programme, conducted by the ANCL on
May 01, 02 and 03 in Colombo. Media Minister Anura Priyadharshana
Yapa will inaugurate the first day program at 6.30 pm.
The areas surrounding the Sambuddhaloka Temple, Fort, Lake House
roundabout, D.R. Wijewardane Mawatha, Chittampalam A Gardiner
Mawatha, Fort, Pettah, Presidential Secretariat, Lotus Road and
Slave Island will come under Amadahara Vesak Zone.
The entire area will be decorated with Buddhist flags,
Illuminations, pandals, lanterns, during these three days. Leading
public and private sector institutions, including the Sri Lanka Air
Force, Ports Authority, Telecom, Postal Department, National Housing
Authority, C.W. Macki, Inland Revenue Department, Fort Police
Station, Laksala, Railway Department, Bank of Ceylon, Peoples’ Bank,
World Market and some state and private sector bankers will assist
Lake House to conduct the program.
ANCL Acting Chairman, Sarath Kongahage at a special discussion at
the Lake House yesterday thanked all the stakeholders for extending
support to make the event success.
In addition, the Lake House Buddhist Society, several other
Buddhist organisations and institutions have decided to conduct
food, drinks and ice cream dansalas throughout the night to cater to
the Vesak sightseers.
The Independent Television Network and Lakhanda Radio will make
special broadcasts on the proceedings of the “Amadahara Vesak
Program”. Orange Electrical, sponsors the events.
